Dr. Gonzalez is currently the Technical Director of a new Knowledge Center for Emerging Technologies at the University of Chicago.

Natalia Gonzalez, PhD (PREP 7th Cohort) successfully defended her thesis on September 6, 2017. Her thesis was titled: “Integrative genetic analysis of behavioral and metabolic traits in an advanced intercross line of mice”. Natalia attended the University of Chicago and worked with Dr. Abraham Palmer. Over the course of Natalia's PhD, she won an F31 grant and received a Gordon Conference travel award to Japan for a Genetics conference. Natalia has obtained a position at the University of Chicago in the Department of Human Genetics. She will work with Dr. Yolav Gilad and Dr. Marcelo Nobrega to develop a course to teach researchers techniques in genetic engineering. After reflecting on her graduate school experience, Natalia advises current and future scholars to be mindful of the mentors/lab they choose to work with. She describes a good mentor as "someone you can respect as a scientist and like as a person".
